EyeCatch powers MVS Media Group's Hyper-Local LED Truck

How MVS Media Group launched five high-impact LED trucks across major US metros, delivering hyper-localized content that dynamically pointed consumers to the nearest AT&T store based on real-time GPS coordinates.

Executive Tension: The High-Stakes Race for Real-Time Hyper-Local Mobile OOH

In the highly competitive world of Out-of-Home (OOH) advertising, dynamic mobile billboards offer unparalleled brand visibility. However, executing a nationwide campaign for a massive telecom giant like AT&T requires surgical precision. MVS Media Group launched a fleet of five high-impact LED trucks designed to traverse major US metropolitan markets simultaneously. The goal was ambitious: deliver hyper-localized marketing content that would dynamically change to point consumers to the absolute nearest AT&T retail store based on the vehicle's real-time coordinates.

To bring this vision to life, MVS Media Group partnered with digital signage experts EyeCatch Networks. The technical stakes were incredibly high. For the campaign to succeed, content had to trigger instantly the exact moment a truck crossed a precise geofence boundary and vanish the second it left.

With 900 distinct geofences required across five different cities — often with retail stores packed closely together — traditional Content Management Systems (CMS) collapsed under the weight of the deployment. The campaign faced severe operational risks: laggy location polling would lead to delayed ad triggers, incorrect GPS readings would show consumers directions to the wrong store, and moving a truck to a new city would require completely rebuilding the campaign from scratch. MVS Media Group needed an enterprise-grade CMS that was agile, precise, and infinitely scalable. They found it on OnSign.

The Real Issues: Legacy Bottlenecks and Geofencing Gridlock

Before EyeCatch Networks integrated OnSign, MVS Media Group faced rigid technical limitations that threatened the viability of large-scale mobile campaigns:

  • The 900-Geofence Bottleneck: Traditional platforms required manual creation of geofences. Building, shaping, and testing 900 individual zones was projected to take over two weeks of non-stop, error-prone manual labor.

  • The Proximity Nightmare: In dense urban environments, AT&T stores are frequently located in close proximity to one another. Legacy systems lacked the geometric flexibility to custom-shape geofences, resulting in overlapping zones and incorrect ad delivery.

  • The Regional Realignment Tax: Under old workflows, if an LED truck was reassigned from Cleveland to Kansas City, the entire system had to be wiped, reprogrammed, and re-mapped player-by-player. This caused massive operational rework, downtime, and lost revenue.

  • Latent Telemetry: Slow GPS ping intervals in older software meant a truck could drive entirely past a targeted retail zone before the media player realized it had entered the geofence, resulting in missed impressions.

How We Worked: Driving Precision with OnSign

EyeCatch Networks leveraged OnSign’s robust developer tools and granular playback architecture to build a highly automated, ultra-responsive mobile network.

Scripted Bulk-Geofencing via API

Instead of drawing 900 zones by hand, EyeCatch Networks used OnSign's flexible architecture to programmatically inject all 900 geofences into the system. This compressed a daunting two-week setup timeline into just three days.

Decoupling Content from the Hardware

OnSign’s Location-Based Publishing Restrictions completely revolutionized MVS Media Group's workflow. Instead of assigning content directly to a specific media player, rules were tied strictly to the global map coordinates.

The Turnkey Advantage: Because the setup was mapped to the geography rather than the truck, it didn't matter which physical vehicle was driving through Miami, Milwaukee, Detroit, Kansas City, or Austin. The content adjusted automatically based on location alone, completely eliminating setup rework when shifting assets between markets.

Custom-Shaped Zones & Live Diagnostics

OnSign allowed operators to warp and sculpt geofence boundaries to perfectly isolate individual store radii, preventing overlapping signal cross-talk. To maintain absolute control over the moving fleet, EyeCatch Networks relied heavily on OnSign's real-time diagnostic toolkit:

  • Remote View: Allowed the central command team to instantly verify exactly what was on the truck screens at any second.

  • Player Status Maps: Provided live telemetry overlays showing the player's exact pathing.

  • Advanced Player Logs: Gave engineers deep diagnostic insight into precise GPS coordinate pings and exact content trigger timestamps.

Hardware Infrastructure

The hardware deployment was designed to be lean yet powerful. Inside each truck, a standard laptop running the OnSign player application was connected directly to a high-accuracy GPS antenna and a WTI cellular router. The laptop processed the live location data, triggered the OnSign assets instantly, and continuously fed the flawless video signal directly into the main LED Truck Controller.
